Poland breezes with a 5-1 Title Win
The BBHC 20th anniversary year kicked off
with Bill Osbahr and Poland winning the Coffee Cup.
The 10-2 Poland team had no problem with 3rd place Finland, though
it was close for 2 periods.
Favored by 5 coming into this championship game, the teams played
scoreless for 14 minutes until Jack Gavin took a nice pass in the
slot, crashed into Fuji, and then scored. All in that order.
The goal stood and it was 1-0 Poland.
Just 2 minutes later it was Phil Andrusin scoring and it was on like
Donkey Kong. But late in the first Rob Chiulli banged one home
behind sub goalie Pat Gavin and it was now 2-1 heading into first
recess.
The 2nd period went pretty much uneventful, except for a penalty on
Fuji for tying up the puck near center ice.
In the third is where Poland put it out of reach. Some nice passing
by Cormican and Leslie set up Wilkinson for a goal. Then Wilkinson
set up Aizzanman for a goal. Finally Andrusin cashed in with his 2nd
of the game with 11:00 to play for the 5-1 lead and final.
